Guide: Exchange Non-Czech Driver's License for Czech One

- Upon arrival, register at your local Foreign Police Department (you’ll get a certificate of temporary residence).
- Get the medical certificate for driving from a doctor.
- After approximately two weeks, you will need to provide your foreign driver’s license, the medical certificate and some form of personal identification to the Czech Driver’s License Department.
- Application for the exchange of your driver’s license will be done here. They will take your foreign driver’s license and give you a confirmation letter in return.
- After some time (about 20-30 days), you will receive a notification instructing you to pick up your new Czech driver’s license.

Keep in mind that the process might be slightly different if your license was issued by an EU/EEA country. It’s also essential to note that if the information on your foreign driver’s license is not in the Czech or English language or does not match the Czech standards, you may be required to have it translated by a sworn translator. Your original license will be retained by the Czech authorities and returned to the issuing state.
