What is it?
A Romanian Identity Card is a document issued to Romanian citizens, proving identity, address, and, in some cases, citizenship.
Who needs it?
Any Romanian citizen, or a foreign citizen living in Romania, who needs to verify their identity, address, or citizenship.
Procedure
- Go to the local Public Community Service for the Population (SPCP)
- Submit the required documents
- Complete an application form
- Pay the processing fee
- Pick up the identity card when it’s ready
Required Documents
- Birth certificate: Original and copy
- Proof of residence: A document stating your current address
- Old identity card: If you’re renewing or replacing an old one
- Marriage certificate: In case of name change due to marriage
- Document proving lawful status for foreign citizens
- 1 color photograph, according to official requirements
